"Here are nineteen Faerie tales which in no way resemble the cute little faeries of our childhood...all of them have a serious twist that I could not help but be fascinated by.  A terrific anthology that I am proud to recommend!
 - 4 1/2 stars, Detra Fitch, The Huntress Reviews

"Bad-Ass Faeries rides the wave of faerie popularity apparent to anyone who's ever entered a Hot Topic store... readers will find its protagonists a refreshing change from the sugary-sweet faeries of their childhood."

Bad-Ass Faeries Delaware Launch with CJ Henderson, Vincent Collins, D.C. Wilson, R. Allen Leider, and Danielle Ackley-McPhail

We showed up early, all in one car, bearing books, and food and high expectations. We weren't disappointed. As you can see from the masses of books (and you can't even see CJ's end of the table) it took quite a while to set up. We got everything into order just in time for our first audience. (Yes, I said first audience :) See, with the Sails and Sorcery Launch (Fantasist Enterprises) I was apart of there were masses of people right from the start; with BAF they tag-teamed us. We would set down and talk and read to one group, chat awhile, have some food. They would wander off, we'd chat among ourselves, and then more people would show up. It was actually kind of cool: things were laid back, we had time to breath and relax our guts, then right before we were starting to get a complex because no one was there, another group would wander in and we would start all over again :)

We had a few veterans in the group, when it comes to reading, and a couple that were kind of new to it, but everyone did a wonderful job. There was a nice diversity in the stories, both content and style so the audience got a nice sampling of the what the book is like. As always, though, CJ was the auditory treat of the event. That guy really knows how to get into a story and just run with it. Here you can see Den C. Wilson reading from his story Heart of Vengeance.

One of the really nice things about being at Between Books, besides getting to hang with our friend and bookstore owner, Greg Schaur, is that we've been there enough times, for a variety of events that we have built something of a following. Every time we go we see familiar faces eager to hear what we are up to next. As you can see, they kept us busy signing copies of Bad-Ass Faeries. We've even scored some outside events through people we've met in Greg's store. In the picture to your right is a professor who teaches literature at a local University and also runs a cool Readers Group out of her home. I've met many of the members at Between Books.

It's a little off topic, but I had the pleasure of being a guest author at one of the book club's quarterly meetings...and the Halloween one, at that. Here is (as CJ would say) your bonus wacky author photo from the event (and yes, I did make the horns, and the robe. You can check it out in more detail on the Crafts page of this site).

It was a blast. Cool food, lots of people, and hours of enjoyable socializing. Of course, I've never read aloud so long in one night, but what was even nicer is that the audience asked questions and made comments. Very Cool! Anyway, the point being, I never would have been invited if it hadn't been for a little store called Between Books.
