I started costuming late in my convention career. Basically, I felt I needed something to return the experience into the direction of enjoyment, rather than just business. Thus, the costuming. I grew up with a mother who loved to sew and she instilled in me the love of dressing up. Every Halloween from the my first year on I had some cool costume that absolutely no other child had. And as I grew older, every play I was in that needed a special made costume, she made it for me. Well, I grew into the tradition quite easily. Below you will find some of my first efforts. I explain the how and where of each one. I hope you enjoy. Keep an eye out for more to come...I have way more imagination than I have closet space....a very dangerous thing.

It's always dangerous to introduce me to new things. Recently someone <read "Mike"> brought to my attenting to polymer clay. I started simple <read "ambitious"> and created the mask for my Purple People Eater Costume. Things have spiraled out of control gloriously from there. You can see some of my efforts on the following pages. This is my newest venture in the creative realm. I'm rather new at it, but I am realing enjoying myself.

I ended up making or designing jewelry completely by happenstance.
I don't do it very often--which is probably for the best. It can get expensive.

My foray into wings grew out of my costuming efforts and my promotional efforts as an author/editor. But come on, I'm sure you can tell by now that I am all about the crafty things...I just love to create, whether it is with words or clay or fabric, I'm both happiest and most frustrated when I am making things. The wings were very well received and I even managed to barter a set for a medival mace replica Mike was interested in. In fact, the wings were so popular I have started making them in my spare time in both adult and children's sizes. Watch for them at a con near me ;)
