Welcome to the Official Website of Genre Author Danielle Ackley-McPhail |

First, what is Sidhe na Daire and why is it the name of my site? Sidhe na Daire (pronounced Shee na Dare) means Fairy or Elf of the Oak. My maiden name, Ackley, means in an oak valley. Given that I have made my start in the literary world with Yesterday's Dreams, an urban fantasy based on Celtic mythology and legends of the Tuatha de Danaan, who are also known as the Sidhe, the next progression was to combine all of these elements as integral to who I am. And thus the site was named. Second, my symbol. The tri-spiral is found as a carving on many megolithic monuments throughout Ireland. Most noted of these is Newgrange, as per the above photograph of the entrance to the structure. During a tour of the mound we learned that the tri-spiral represented the concept of Body, Mind, and Spirit in perfect unity, but was also used as a symbol for both bards and learned individuals among the ancient Celts. It only seemed fitting that I adopt the symbol to represent Sidhe na Daire. So, again, Welcome, and I hope you enjoy the site. It contains information on all of my books, as well as highlights on my crafting and costuming efforts. If you have any questions about anything you find here, please feel free to email me.
